Read More…When I started blogging at the beginning of the month I wasn’t sure what I would be talking about, or if there was anything in particular I would focus on so I adapted my theme to be about me. The tag line stating the blog was about me, and the header image being some of my favourite pictures from visiting Bathsheba in Barbados, the island my paternal grandparents were originally from. I quickly discovered that my love of reading was shared by a wonderful community of book bloggers so I’ve made some updates to reflect the fact that I am focusing more on books. I will still blog about myself but my main focus will be books, and related things – so my header image is now my living room bookshelf.

Read More…Today was a day of professional development, I went and sat the first exam for my level 4 CIPS course. Now I know that completing this course is important for career progression, but as much as I enjoy my day to day job, the theory of procurement is enough to put anyone to sleep. I wrote a little over 11 pages – handwritten! Who knew they were still making you hand write exams, I thought in the few years since I finished my degree they might have moved on. Clearly not!

Read More…So on Thursday afternoon I popped over to the car park at work and gave blood. It only took an hour of my time and that means I may have saved a life today. My blood group is B+, I was given a badge to prove it. Only 9.2% of the Scottish population share my blood type, and only 6% of people in Scotland who are eligible to donate actually do. This means out of the 5.3 million people in Scotland, only 491,979 people share my blood type, and less that 29,500 actually donate blood.
