Looking Back on 2019 – My Favourite Adult Reads

Time for the third post in this series where I’m looking back at the books I’ve read during 2019 and picking out some highlights! I’m basing this on the books I’ve read during 2019, not necessarily 2019 releases. Also we’ve a few days of the year left so I’m not completely done with my year’s reading so it’s possible this could change!

This year I made it through 26 adult reads, a fair few of them were audiobooks, I had a phase were I was making my way through Alex Gray’s William Lorimer series at a rate of knots.

Bold Lies by Rachel Lynch – I adore the DI Kelly Porter books and the three additions to the series this year didn’t disappoint but I think this one was my favourite!

My Bold Lies review

The Dare by Carol Wyer – I devoured all five books in the Detective Natalie Ward series this year and to be honest I could have picked any of them for this list.

My review of The Dare

Lethal White by Robert Galbraith – It took me a while to get through this one, I think it mainly was me trying to find the right format for me to devour it in. Once I settled down with the eBook I loved it and was quickly caught up in the political intrigue

My Lethal White review

Nothing To Hide by James Oswald – I love James’s Inspector McLean series but I’m actually a book behind with that series. One the other hand I’ve read both of the Constance Fairchild books and I just loved them. The call backs to the Inspector McLean books are great but I like that you don’t have to have read those to enjoy this series

My Nothing To Hide review

This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay – This was both hilarious and tragic. It really demonstrated what our doctors do for us and how lucky we are to have the NHS in this country. Also I quite enjoyed traumatising my friend’s husband with some of the urology based tales.

My This Is Going To Hurt review

There are my top five adult reads of the year! What was your favourite adult read this year? Let me know in the comments!
