Good evening! I’m posting a little later in the day today but I really wanted to get something posted for today’s prompt. I sat down last night trying to decide how to tackle this prompt, what exactly is it that makes a book title extraordinary… I settled for a title that makes me go ooh…. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but I definitely judge them by their titles!

Extraordinary Book Titles
The Train To Impossible Places by P.G. Bell

A train that travels through impossible places. A boy trapped in a snow globe. And a girl who’s about to go on the adventure of a lifetime.
The Impossible Postal Express is no ordinary train. It’s a troll-operated delivery service that runs everywhere from ocean-bottom shipwrecks, to Trollville, to space.
But when this impossible train comes roaring through Suzy’s living room, her world turns upside down. After sneaking on board, Suzy suddenly finds herself Deputy Post Master aboard the train, and faced with her first delivery―to the evil Lady Crepuscula.
Then, the package itself begs Suzy not to deliver him. A talking snow globe, Frederick has information Crepuscula could use to take over the entire Union of Impossible Places. But when protecting Frederick means putting her friends in danger, Suzy has to make a difficult choice―with the fate of the entire Union at stake.
I’m starting off with a wonderful middle grade novel. This one caught my eye while I was browsing the Overdrive app, it immediately captured my imagination and I needed to know what or where these impossible places were! The follow up The Great Brain Robbery has an equally brilliant sounding title!

And Then I Turned Into A Mermaid by Laura Kirkpatrick

Molly Seabrook’s dull seaside life is turned upside down when she turns 13 and is let in on the family secret: she’s PART-MERMAID! While this does explain why her bonkers Mum is always skinny-dipping, Molly isn’t exactly thrilled. She already has to dress as a haddock to promote the family fish ’n’ chip shop, and now this? Growing up is hard enough without sprouting a fish tail in Double Maths, or disguising your gills from the cute boy at the ice cream kiosk.
Join Molly as she navigates the stormy sea of social awkwardness, best friend fallouts and the World’s Most Embarrassing Family – all while attempting to hide her (Very Weird) new double identity. Will she sink or swim? You’ll have to wait and SEA . . .
The first in a hilarious new series about family, friendship and one BIG fishy secret.
Another middle grade novel here, and who isn’t excited when presented with a title like that, has she literally turned into a mermaid? This is information that I need to know! Yes this is still sitting on my shelf…
A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson

The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?
This is another wonderful question bringing title, who is this good girl? Is she the one committing murder and telling people how to get away with it? I absolutely loved this book, and the sequel has just been announced with another brilliant title, Good Girl, Bad Blood.

The Fourth Monkey by J.D. Barker

For over five years, the Four Monkey Killer has terrorized the residents of Chicago. When his body is found, the police quickly realize he was on his way to deliver one final message, one which proves he has taken another victim who may still be alive.
As the lead investigator on the 4MK task force, Detective Sam Porter knows even in death, the killer is far from finished. When he discovers a personal diary in the jacket pocket of the body, Porter finds himself caught up in the mind of a psychopath, unraveling a twisted history in hopes of finding one last girl, all while struggling with personal demons of his own.
With only a handful of clues, the elusive killer’s identity remains a mystery. Time is running out and the Four Monkey Killer taunts from beyond the grave in this masterfully written fast-paced thriller.
We all know about the three wise monkeys: See no evil; Hear no evil; Speak no evil, but what is the fourth monkey in reference to? I needed to know! I’m due a re-read of this one and the two other books in the trilogy are now available!
The Book Of Souls by James Oswald

At the turn of the Millennium, Detective Constable Anthony McLean’s fiancé was abducted, raped and murdered by antiquarian book dealer Donald Anderson, the notorious Christmas Killer. Every winter since has been a time of nightmares. So when in the space of a few short weeks Anderson is killed in prison, McLean’s tenement building is burned down, and a young woman’s body is found murdered using Anderson’s MO, it’s hardly surprising that McLean starts to go off the rails.
For ten years, leading up to the turn of the millennium, the Christmas Killer worked his evil on the city of Edinburgh. Every year, in the run-up to the festivities, a young woman would go missing. Then, in the week between Christmas and Hogmanay, her body would be found, throat cut, stripped naked, washed clean and laid out in running water. Ten years, ten women. And the last of these was Kirsty Summers, fiancé to Detective Constable Anthony McLean.
No one is quite sure how he found Donald Anderson, least of all McLean himself. But something took him to the old man’s antiquarian bookshop, and something else made the Christmas Killer let down his guard. In a cellar under the shop they found his torture chamber. Anderson went to prison and the murders – or at least those murders – finally stopped.
Twelve years on, Anderson is killed by a fellow inmate. Christmas is coming, and the body of a young woman is found, naked, washed, laid out in running water, her throat cut. She has been missing for a week.
Detective Inspector McLean had finally put his past behind him. Now it seems it wasn’t ready to let him go.
This is the second of the Mclean Novels, I was already a bit of a fan after the first, but this title certainly had me sit up and pay attention!

The Mystery Of Black Hollow Lane by Julia Nobel

Emmy’s dad disappeared years ago, and with her mother too busy to parent, she’s shipped off to Wellsworth, a prestigious boarding school in England. But right before she leaves, a mysterious box arrives full of medallions and a note reading: These belonged to your father.
Just as she’s settling into life at Wellsworth, Emmy begins to find the strange symbols from the medallions etched into the walls and stumbles upon the school’s super-secret society, The Order of Black Hollow Lane. As Emmy and her friends delve deeper into the mysteries of The Order, she can’t help but wonder—did this secret society have something to do with her dad’s disappearance?
What happened at Black Hollow Lane? Quite frankly I needed to know so I bought it! I’ll let you in on secret, I still haven’t got to this one yet so I’m still waiting to find out!
A Bad Boy Stole My Bra by Lauren Price

Imagine waking up in the dead of night to find your hot new neighbour dangling out of your window. What’s more, he’s clutching your tattiest bra in his hand.
What. The. Actual. Fudge.
When bad boy Alec Wilde moves in next door to Riley, sparks fly. After their ‘unconventional’ introduction, Riley is determined to get her own back. A nemesis is just the distraction she needs: inside, she’s barely holding it together. It’s game on.
But behind the banter, there’s a side to Alec that Riley actually likes. How can she get through to the real him when she can’t even take herself seriously?
Is anyone reading this title and not feeling the urge to pick up the book and find out exactly what went on here? Why is a random guy stealing her bra? I received this book in a Secret Santa swap and I still need to find out more!
#Murdertrending by Gretchen McNeil

@doctorfusionbebop: Some 17 y. o. chick named Dee Guerrera was just sent to Alcatraz 2.0 for killing her stepsister. So, how long do you think she’ll last?

WELCOME TO THE NEAR FUTURE, where good and honest citizens can enjoy watching the executions of society’s most infamous convicted felons, streaming live on The Postman app from the suburbanized prison island Alcatraz 2.0.

#Murdertrending was always going to capture my attention as a crime fan and it most definitely did! I have so many questions about this one, and it’s sitting on my shelf waiting for me to figure it out!

Cadaver & Queen by Alisa Kwitney

When Lizzie Lavenza enrolled at Ingold as its first female medical student, she knew she wouldn’t have an easy time. From class demands to being an outsider among her male cohorts, she’ll have to go above and beyond to prove herself. So when she stumbles across what appears to be a faulty Bio-mechanical–one of the mechanized cadavers created to service the school–she jumps at the chance to fix it and get ahead in the program.
Only this Bio-mechanical isn’t like the others. Where they are usually empty-minded and perfectly obedient, this one seems to have thoughts, feelings… and self-awareness.
Soon Lizzie realizes that it is Victor Frankenstein–a former student who died under mysterious circumstances. Victor, it seems, still has a spark of human intelligence inside him, along with memories of things he discovered before his untimely death.. .and a suspicion that he was murdered to keep that information from getting out. Suddenly Lizzie finds herself intertwined in dark secrets and sabotage that put her life, and the lives of Victor and their friends, in danger. But Lizzie’s determined to succeed–even if that means fighting an enemy who threatens the entire British Empire.
Cadaver and Queen are not two words that you would expect to find in such close proximity so I was immediately intrigued as to what the story was about!
