Good evening! Today is the 1st August, the day after Harry Potter’s 39th birthday so it seems only right that my chosen tag today is The Hogwarts Tag! I first spotted this on Never Not Reading way back in August 2017 so I’m pleased to finally be getting around to it!

Am I a pureblood, half-blood, or muggle born?
I’m sure it would be great fun to be a pureblood princess but my parents lack of interest in all things HP makes me think they’re squibs – my grandma was a fan though so maybe she was a pureblood… Not sure what that makes me though…
Which wand chose me?

My Pottermore wand is 12 1/2″ long and made of ash wood with a dragon heartstring core and has a hard flexibility.
Here’s what Pottermore says about my wand
Ash
The ash wand cleaves to its one true master and ought not to be passed on or gifted from the original owner, because it will lose power and skill. This tendency is extreme if the core is of unicorn. Old superstitions regarding wands rarely bear close examination, but I find that the old rhyme regarding rowan, chestnut, ash and hazel wands (rowan gossips, chestnut drones, ash is stubborn, hazel moans) contains a small nugget of truth. Those witches and wizards best suited to ash wands are not, in my experience, lightly swayed from their beliefs or purposes. However, the brash or over-confident witch or wizard, who often insists on trying wands of this prestigious wood, will be disappointed by its effects. The ideal owner may be stubborn, and will certainly be courageous, but never crass or arrogant.
Well I’m certainly stubborn so I guess this is the right wand wood for me!
Dragon Heartstring
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
I do like the idea of being able to cast powerful flamboyant spells! I’m also somewhat temperamental (if you ask my dad at least) so I guess it suits my personality!
Did I take an owl, cat, rat, or toad with me?
As much as I would LOVE an owl, I’d probably take a cat and make friends with some of the school owls
Where did the sorting hat put me?

In news that will come as a surprise to exactly none of my friends I was sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore. Incidentally there’s nothing inherently evil or bad about any of the traits the sorting hat looks for in potential Slytherins, and I’m very proud to be a snake! Besides Merlin was one too so beat that!
If I’d been to Ilvermorny it appears I would have been sorted into Thunderbird house
What house did I want to be in?
I’ve wanted to be a Slytherin for as long as I can remember, although I wouldn’t have minded ending up in Ravenclaw…
What lessons are my favourite and least favourite?
Favourites:
I adored chemistry at school so I would definitely be a potions fan, plus as a snake I’d be alright in class! I think I’d love charms and transfiguration too. Plus I was always good at maths so arithmancy would probably be up my street
Least Favourites:
I’m interested in history but I never liked the subject at school and being droned at by a ghost does not fill me with excitement so no history of magic for me. Until they revamp muggle studies and bring it up to date it’s a no from me. Also I’m with Hermione on the idea of divination…
The form my patronus takes:
Again according to Pottermore my patronus is a calico cat. I think I’d prefer something a little bigger… Like a dragon which according to Pottermore is a rare but not impossible form for a patronus to take
What does a boggart look like to me?
I genuinely couldn’t tell you… I’m not sure of what I fear enough for a boggart to become it, maybe I’d be like Hermione and have something to do with failure…
Do I partake in any magical hobbies or school sports?
I don’t think I’d be a fan of Gobstones… I’d probably watch my friends play Quidditch but I’m not sure I’d try out for the team… Dueling Club on the other hand… I’m there!
Where would I find myself hanging in my free time?
The Slytherin Common Room of course! Alternatively the library or on a nice sunny day sitting on the shore of the Black Lake.
What would I most likely get detention for?
I never actually had detention throughout secondary school… I’m not quite in Hermione’s camp when it comes to detentions being worst than death but I’m quite pleased with my clean record. It’s not that I didn’t do anything wrong, I just never got caught…
What career do I want after leaving Hogwarts?
Ooh careers! I didn’t even know what career I wanted in the muggle world, I just fell into one so I wouldn’t know where to start in the magical world… Maybe a healer… Alternatively I could marry well and not need to work, that way I could spend my time experimenting with spells and potions without worrying about how I was going to pay rent and afford to eat…

So there’s my take on The Hogwarts Tag – my tribute to Harry Potter near his 39th birthday – boy does that make me feel old! I hope you found my answers interesting! Check back next Thursday for the next stop on my ABC Book Challenge!

Really enjoyed reading your answers to this, it’s such a fun tag! I think I did it just after I first started blogging. We have very different favourite subjects though- I was dreadful at both maths and chemistry, and loved history 😂. I do think I’d love charms and transfiguration though!

I have always been all about science and maths! I love the logic that underpins it all!

I’m really not okay with Harry being that old! Probably because it means I’m beginning to get scarily close to it myself!
