Top Ten Tuesday – Auto Buy Authors

Today’s prompt was an interesting one and really got me thinking about how many auto buy authors I actually have. I struggled slightly to make it to ten!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Auto Buy Authors

Sara Holland

After the Everless duology Sara has me sold! I will buy whatever she writes next… although if she writes more in the world of Sempera I certainly won’t say no!

James Oswald

I stumbled across the Inspector McLean series quite by accident during an Audible sale and absolutely devoured the rest of the series. I always enjoy catching up with Tony and finding out what weird case he has found himself in the middle of! I’ve also recently read the first of the DC Constance Fairchild series and fell in love with the character so I’m looking forward to the second!

Rachel Lynch

You’ll have seen me take part in blog tours for all of Rachel’s DI Kelly Porter series. I absolutely adore this series, everything from the characters, to the location and the plots are wonderful and as long as Rachel keeps writing them, I’ll keep reading them!

Rachel Ward

To date there have only been two books in the Ant & Bea Mystery series but I really love them. The stories make such a pleasant different from my usual darker crime reads. I’d challenge anyone to read these stories and not fall in love with Ant and Bea!

Carol Wyer

I simply adore both of Carol’s crime series. Robyn Carter and Natalie Ward are both fantastic characters and I love catching up on their latest cases! I know Carol also writes contemporary novels but I’ve not got to those yet!

Laura Steven

I loved The Exact Opposite Of Okay and have loved the little bit of A Girl Called Shameless I’ve read so far. When I heard she was writing a MG novel about mermaids under the name Laura Kirkpatrick I just had to buy it.

Philip Pullman

Philip Pullman formed such a huge part of my childhood with both His Dark Material and The Sally Lockhart Quartet along with a couple of standalone novels I’ve read. I was so pleased to come back to Lyra in The Book Of Dust I’ve already pre-ordered the special edition of The Secret Commonwealth

Robert Galbraith

I’ve said Robert Galbraith rather than J. K. Rowling as going forward it’s the Cormoran Strike books that really excite me. Now don’t get me wrong, I adore Harry Potter and have done for the past twenty years, I own all the books and will continue to buy the house editions as they are released but I don’t have any real desire to buy the Fantastic Beasts scripts. I will impatiently wait for the next Strike book though!

Vic James

Regular readers will have noticed how much I adore the Dark Gifts trilogy, the characters and the concept are absolutely fantastic. I jumped at the chance to preorder Sanctuary which Vic has written under the pen name V. V. James. I’ve seen lots of positive early reviews so I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!

Ben Aaronovitch

The Rivers Of London series was first recommended to be many many years ago when I had an Audible credit to use. I will always buy this series as an audiobook as the narrator Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is incredible and really brings the story to life!

Auto Buy Authors Of The Future

My ten auto buy authors where difficult to come up with, but there are a few more authors I’ve read recently who I think have the potential to become auto buy authors in the future. P. G. Bell is the author behind The Train To Impossible Places which I just adored and CANNOT wait to get my hands on the sequel. Peter Bunzl writes the Cogheart Adventures so far I’ve only read the first but I have the second borrowed from the library which I’m so looking forward to! Abi Elphinstone has written several stories but I recently read her short story Everdark, I was amazed at how much she managed to get into a short story and I immediately went out and bought Rumblestar, I’m hoping to get to her back catalogue at some point as well! Finally Holly Jackson is the author behind one of my favourite YA reads of the year A Good Girls Guide To Murder, I will read whatever she writes next, but was very pleased to read that a sequel is in the works!

They were my ten auto buy authors and some potential auto buys for the future. Do any of these feature on your lists? Let me know in the comments!

Laura Steven is defnitely becoming an auto read for me! As are quite a few of the people in your future section. Robin Stevens and Emma Carroll are of course auto reads for me too, and Jennifer Killick is another that comes straight to mind!
