Six For Sunday: Bookish Wishes – Characters I Want To Be Friends With

Yes I have totally cheated and backdated this post! I never quite got around to publishing last Sunday but this was a prompt that couldn’t just me missed as what an amazing prompt it is!

Six for Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Steph at ALITTLEBUTALOT. You can find a list of prompts from January to June 2019 here

Characters I Want To Be Friends With

This prompt was such a lot of fun! There are so many characters from so many books that I’d kinda like to be friends with so picking out just six was an interesting challenge, a couple are probably obvious choices but one or two are hopefully a little more surprising!

Hermione Granger from Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

Who wouldn’t want to be friends with Hermione Granger? For me she’s the best of the Golden Trio, throughout the books both Harry and Ron annoyed me at various points, although Harry was a little bit better by the end. Hermione was smart, brave when she needed to be and who wouldn’t have enjoyed punching Draco! I think she’d be a great friend to have – as she proved when she stuck by Harry the whole time they were on the run. Also I was a little bit of a rule abiding geek at school so her love of studying wouldn’t bother me at all!

Lily Hartman from The Cogheart Adventures by Peter Bunzl

So far I’ve only read the first of this trilogy but I absolutely adored the book and a big part of that is because of Lily Hartman. She’s an absolutely wonderful character and if I’d lived back in the Victorian period I think I’d have been similar to Lily’s character – she’s not a girly girl, she’s much happier reading penny dreadfuls that sitting through etiquette classes. I think she’d be great fun to be around, plus I’d love to see if her dad would create me my own mechanimal friend like Malkin the fox!

Maura Isles from the Rizzoli and Isles series by Tess Gerritsen

Again this is a series I’ve fallen slightly behind with but I really enjoyed both the book series and the TV adaptation. Book and TV Mauras are slightly different personalities and as much as I enjoyed Sasha Alexander’s take on Maura in the show it’s book Maura that I’m picking to me friends with. She’s a little more dark and gothic than TV Maura and that appeals to my personality! I’m also a bit of a science geek so I’d hope for a little behind the scenes tour of the mortuary!

Lyra Belacqua from His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

To be honest there are so many characters from this series that I would love to be friends with, Lyra is possibly the obvious choice as she’s the central character but I absolutely adored her relationship with Pan so I’d love to follow her on her adventure! I could have equally picked Will, or Iorek, or Lee or Serafina! I think the main draw of being friends of any of the characters in this series is the idea that if I were to join their world I’d get my own dæmon!

DI Kelly Porter from Kelly Porter series by Rachel Lynch

Kelly just comes across as a very relatable normal person. I completely appreciate the way that her job comes first but at the same time I think she’d be a great person to go out and have a drink with, she could show me some great places in the Lake District, also she might actually get me out running which would be fantastic for my general health and wellbeing!

Silyen Jardine from the Dark Gifts Trilogy by Vic James

This is without doubt my most dangerous friendship choice! Not only do I think Silyen would be the hardest person on my list to befriend at the same time he’s probably the one character that would turn around and stab you in the back without a second thought! Those things taken into consideration I still think Silyen would be an absolutely fascinating person to get to know! I think I’d definitely want to be one of the gifted though, I do not fancy having to do the slave days…

They were my #SixforSunday! If you’ve taken part leave a link to your post below and I’ll be sure to check it out!
