It’s time to move another letter down the alphabet for The ABC Book Challenge!
Every couple of weeks I’ll be sharing at least one memorable book with a title beginning with the letter of the week, and one (or more) books currently on my TBR.
I’ll be ignoring any As etc at the beginning of titles

The ABC Book Challenge – C
A Memorable Book…

Coma by Robin Cook
They call it “minor surgery,” but Nancy Greenly, Sean Berman, and a dozen others, all admitted to Memorial Hospital for routine procedures, are victims of the same inexplicable, hideous tragedy on the operating table. They never wake up again.
Some traceless error in anesthesia has cased irreversible brain death, leaving each of them in a hopeless coma.
Something is very wrong here. And Susan Wheeler, a beautiful young medical student, hazards her life to uncover the horrifying explanation–a plot so ghastly, so far-reaching, so terrifyingly incredible yet so nightmarishly possible, it will leave you suspended in a state of fear….
At home there was a bookcase that sat outside my parents bedroom that had some of dad’s books on, he didn’t have a huge collection because he was far more likely to be found out playing sport or training than in the house but he did have two medical thrillers by Robin Cook – Coma and Fever and both of them magically made their way onto my bookcase as a teenager. I was probably only 14 or 15 when I read this and bits freaked me out but I couldn’t put it down!
A Book On My TBR…

Call It What You Want by Brigid Kemmerer
When his dad is caught embezzling funds from half the town, Rob goes from popular lacrosse player to social pariah. Even worse, his father’s failed suicide attempt leaves Rob and his mother responsible for his care.
Everyone thinks of Maegan as a typical overachiever, but she has a secret of her own after the pressure got to her last year. And when her sister comes home from college pregnant, keeping it from her parents might be more than she can handle.
When Rob and Maegan are paired together for a calculus project, they’re both reluctant to let anyone through the walls they’ve built. But when Maegan learns of Rob’s plan to fix the damage caused by his father, it could ruin more than their fragile new friendship…
This captivating, heartfelt novel asks the question: Is it okay to do something wrong for the right reasons?
I am so excited for this book, I have it pre-ordered, the blurb sounds great and I love the cover.

A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
Fall in love, break the curse.
It once seemed so easy to Prince Rhen, the heir to Emberfall. Cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year over and over, he knew he could be saved if a girl fell for him. But that was before he learned that at the end of each autumn, he would turn into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. That was before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.
Nothing has ever been easy for Harper Lacy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother barely holding their family together while constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, she learned to be tough enough to survive. But when she tries to save someone else on the streets of Washington, DC, she’s instead somehow sucked into Rhen’s cursed world.
Break the curse, save the kingdom.
A prince? A monster? A curse? Harper doesn’t know where she is or what to believe. But as she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what’s at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall . . . and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.
I have just realised that both C books on my TBR are by Brigid Kemmerer! I’ve had this one sitting on my shelf for a while, in fact I have two copies, the paperback I bought and they special edition that came in my Fairyloot box. I love Beauty and the Beast so I have great hopes for this.

One memorable and two to be read C books! Let me know yours in the comments and be sure to come back on the 27th to discover my D books!

Coma sounds amazing, exactly the type of book I’d pick up.
I have A Curse So Dark And Lonely on my TBR but haven’t read it yet.

I’d definitely recommend Coma! Although it’s been some years since I read it. There’s a new book coming out this year called Control which is giving me Coma vibes so I’m looking forward to picking it up!

I have a Curse So Dark and Lonely on my TBR too, and I’m definitely considering giving Call It What You Want a try even though I didn’t enjoy Letters to the Lost very much. Mostly because I love the Taylor Swift song of the same title 😂
I’m really struggling to think of many titles with C at the beginning. One I LOVE is Comet and the Champions’ Cup- that series meant/means the world to me and that’s my favourite book from it. One I read recently that I really enjoyed was Check Mates 😊
