It’s a Thursday which can only mean one thing on SWB, it’s time for another Tag Thursday.
For Tag Thursday this week I’ve decided to make a start on The ABC Book Challenge. Every couple of weeks I’ll be working my way through the alphabet and hopefully sharing at least one memorable book with a title beginning with the letter of the week, and one (or more) books currently on my TBR.

The ABC Book Challenge – A
A Memorable Book…

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman
Will is the bearer of the knife. Now, accompanied by angels, his task is to deliver that powerful, dangerous weapon to Lord Asriel – by the command of his dying father.
But how can he go looking for Lord Asriel when Lyra is gone? Only with her help can he fathom the myriad plots and and intrigues that beset him.
The two great powers of the many worlds are lining up for war, and Will must find Lyra, for together they are on their way to battle, an inevitable journey that will even take them to the world of the dead…
The Amber Spyglass is the third and final book in the His Dark Materials trilogy. I remember my emotions being all over the place the first time I read this, it was such a wonderful and heartbreaking end to the trilogy. I’m certainly due a reread some time soon!
A Book On My TBR…

All Rights Reserved by Gregory Scott Katsoulis
In a world where every word and gesture is copyrighted, patented or trademarked, one girl elects to remain silent
Speth Jime is anxious to deliver her Last Day speech and celebrate her transition into adulthood. The moment she turns fifteen, Speth must pay for every word she speaks, for every nod, for every scream and even every gesture of affection. She’s been raised to know the consequences of falling into debt, and can’t begin to imagine the pain of having her eyes shocked for speaking words that she’s unable to afford.
But when Speth’s friend Beecher commits suicide rather than work off his family’s crippling debt, she can’t express her shock and dismay without breaking her Last Day contract and sending her family into Collection. Rather than read her speech—rather than say anything at all—she closes her mouth and vows never to speak again, sparking a movement that threatens to destroy her, her family and the entire city around them.
All Rights Reserved has been on my TBR for too long! I read an extract in Buzz Books and added this to my TBR straightaway, that was back in June 2017, almost two years on and with a sequel now out in the world I’ve still not got to it, maybe summer 2019 will be the time!

And Then I Turned Into A Mermaid by Laura Kirkpatrick
Molly Seabrook’s dull seaside life is turned upside down when she turns 13 and is let in on the family secret: she’s PART-MERMAID! While this does explain why her bonkers Mum is always skinny-dipping, Molly isn’t exactly thrilled. She already has to dress as a haddock to promote the family fish ’n’ chip shop, and now this? Growing up is hard enough without sprouting a fish tail in Double Maths, or disguising your gills from the cute boy at the ice cream kiosk.
Join Molly as she navigates the stormy sea of social awkwardness, best friend fallouts and the World’s Most Embarrassing Family – all while attempting to hide her (Very Weird) new double identity. Will she sink or swim? You’ll have to wait and SEA . . .
The first in a hilarious new series about family, friendship and one BIG fishy secret.
And Then I Turned Into A Mermaid is due for release at the end of the month and I already have it pre-ordered. The concept sounds like a lot of fun and as Laura Kirkpatrick is the MG pen name for Laura Steven, the author of The Exact Opposite Of Okay and A Girl Called Shameless I have high hopes for it!

One memorable and two to be read A books! Let me know yours in the comments and be sure to come back on the 30th to discover my B books!

I’m so excited for And Then I Turned Into A Mermaid! One of my favourites with an A title is Arsenic for Tea- which is one of my very favourites of the Murder Most Unladylike books (Death in the Spotlight may have unseated it as my very favourite, but I’m not sure yet!)
