Six for Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Steph at ALITTLEBUTALOT. You can find a list of prompts from January to June 2019 here

Bookish Wishes
I’ve sat for a while pondering what my bookish wishes would be, I feel particularly lucky to be gifted six rather than the usual three a genie might offer. Now the most obvious wish – that I could have any published book I desire for free – seems a bit of a cop out akin to wishing for infinite wishes from the genie… And while I occasionally work with the National Library of Scotland alas I myself am not a legal deposit library so I don’t see that wish coming true anytime soon. So what else do I wish for read on…
A new Strike book, or two…
Holding my hands up, I’ve not actually finished Lethal White yet, hopefully I will have by the end of the month, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want more Strike books – because you see the more Strike books are published the more adaptations the BBC will create and the more I get to see the lovely Tom Burke bring Cormoran to life on the screen. Also Holliday Grainger is stunning and Robin may be one of my favourite female characters (even if she did stick with that husband of hers for too long) so more Robin on screen is hardly a chore…
Dark Gifts to get some merch
I ADORE Dark Gifts so much and what I wouldn’t give for some Gilded Cage inspired candles or a Jardine brothers print – or perhaps a Jenner dart board… I’m easily pleased
Extra reading time
This shouldn’t be too much to ask for right, a little bit of extra time carved out just so I can actually balance out my life: work, actually writing some reviews and reading. I’m not too fussy about how it works, the rest of the world could just pause for say two hours around 9pm every night so I can do a bit of reading and then everyone can carry on none the wiser. Alternatively a time-turner I solemnly swear to only use to go back and read books – all the books.
Magical Audio-books
Allow me to clarify I do love listening to a good audio-book – Inspector McLean and Rivers of London are two book series that immediately spring to mind as being particularly well narrated. On the other hand a narrator that grates on my nerves is enough to put me off even if I’m pretty sure it’s a book that I would otherwise enjoy. So the ability to magically switch the narration to a person of my choice would be ideal.
Automated reading tracker
I know that Goodreads exists and other similar websites and apps that track your reading but here’s my problem, I am useless at actually remembering to open Goodreads and say I’ve started or finished reading a book, sure for the first few weeks of the year I’m pretty on it but it soon trails off and I end up having to remember which books I read when. My life would be so much easier if instead something could just track when I picked up and book for the first time and when I finished it. So yeah please, thank you any time you’re ready.
Adaptations of more of my favourite books
Now I’m aware that this is very much a case of be careful what you wish for. For every Strike adaptation out there there’s a Golden Compass film (although I’m hoping the BBC make that particular crime right with their adaptation). Fearing like I’m sounding like a broken record I would love to see a (good) adaptation of Dark Gifts. Wire in the Blood was good but I’d also love to see Val McDermid’s Karen Pirie novels adapted for TV and while we’re at it more Sherlock please!

They were my #SixforSunday! If you’ve taken part leave a link to your post below and I’ll be sure to check it out! If not let me know some of your bookish wishes in the comments below!

Is a complete undo of The Cursed Child too much to ask for? 😂 That and wishing to be paid to read, the dream.

If we could just scrap the epilogue that would be great…

I haven’t read the Strike books but I love the adaptations so I def agree with that one. I despise Robin’s boyfriend/husband. All of the yes to extra reading time too!

Who doesn’t want extra reading time?!
Also you can never have too much Strike and Robin on the TV!

I totally agree about the Dark Gifts series getting some merchandise! I love that series so much but haven’t found anyone doing merchandise for it, at least in the U.K. Extra reading time would also be great!

What I wouldn’t do for some Jardine artwork!

Yes, that would be amazing! Certain fandoms seem to get loads of cool merchandise, whereas others don’t have much. Hope somebody with the skills to create some merch notices this gap in the market! 🙂

YES I need everything Dark Gifts. I want it all. Have you listened to the audiobooks of the series? Avita Jay does the most amazing job.
