Today’s official Top Ten Tuesday prompt is The Best Books I Read In 2018 – but as I recently posted this as part of Blogmas I thought I’d pick an older prompt I’d missed so instead I’m throwing right back to when Top Ten Tuesday was hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, all the way back to the second ever prompt from June 2010 and sharing 10 books I want on a desert island.
My list is mixture of some of my favourites I’d want to have with me to re-read and others I’ve not yet got to and being stuck on a desert island would be a great excuse to finally read!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Books I’d Want On A Desert Island
The Surgeon – Tess Gerritsen
I first read The Surgeon many many years ago, it came free with an issue of Company magazine, it probably wasn’t quite when it was first released in 2001 but maybe a few years later, it was probably around the time I turned 18… I think I can probably credit this with inspiring my love of dark, twisted and at times pretty grim crime fiction. I think I enjoyed it so much because Tess is a trained doctor and so it had that little extra touch of realism to it. The series went on to inspire the TV show Rizzoli and Isles which I also really enjoyed but I have never re-read The Surgeon. Now over ten years later being trapped on a desert island would be the perfect time to pick it up again
The Island – M. A. Bennett
This is the first of my not yet read books on the list. I’ve been meaning to read a book by M. A. Bennett for a while but haven’t got around to it, I have both S.T.A.G.S. and The Island on my shelves. Thinking logically about it a book set on a island where people start turning on each other whilst stranded on a desert island is possible not the best idea but ah well…
His Dark Materials – Philip Pullman
Another re-read on the list, I read the His Dark Materials trilogy for the first time as a teenager and I really wanted to re-read them before La Belle Sauvage was released but never got round to it. All three books have been released as a single volume so it totally counts as just one option!
The Sin Eater’s Daughter – Mel Salisbury
Some of my closest blogger friends absolutely rave about Mel, and all her books. I bought the first in this trilogy quite a while back and haven’t read it yet. Relaxing on an island would be the perfect time to start the trilogy.
Gilded Cage – Vic James
This is the first book in one of my favourite trilogies out there, if I could I would take all three as one choice because I think I could never tire of re-reading about the Jardine brothers and the alternate Skilful Britain.
No Time To Cry – James Oswald
I ADORE James Oswald’s Inspector McLean series and this is is the first in his new series. I preordered it and it’s been sitting on my shelf since November, stranded with no distractions I could finally get around to it!
Lethal White – Robert Galbraith
This book is simply too big for me to carry around on my daily commute and if I’m not careful the BBC adaptation will be on the TV before I get round to reading it all!
Evermore – Sara Holland
This landed on my doormat yesterday and if you’re about to dump me on a desert island there’s no way this isn’t coming with me.
The Exact Opposite Of Okay – Laura Steven
I really want to read this one, it deals with such an important topic in modern society I really want to get around to it soon!
Fearless – Francine Pascal
I so loved this series as a teenager and there are 30-something books in the series so if I can count them all as one option they’ll keep me going for a while as I’m waiting on someone to come and rescue me!

Ten (or so) books I’d pick to be stuck on a desert island with. Which books would you take with you? Let me know in the comments below!

I actually liked Gilded Cage! I still need to read the next book after that. Lethal White is on my tbr for the year! I usually listen to the audiobook versions of the Galbraith series, and I do enjoy them.

I have the audiobooks of The Silkworm and Career of Evil, I think I might get Lethal White once my new Audible credit comes through.
Tarnished City and Bright Ruin are both fabulous! I hope you’ll like them!

Ooh I like this prompt- I’m not sure if I’ve ever done it! The Island look like it would be totally appropriate for a desert island read! And No Time To Cry looks interesting too!

Great list! I’m so keen on picking up The Island at some point. S.T.A.G.S. was one of my favourite releases last year so I’m definitely itching to get my hands on more of the author’s work. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I really need to get to both of them, I’m pretty sure there’s a sequel to S.T.A.G.S. coming this year

I am in the same boat with you on Melinda Salisburys’ books! I would totally love being stick on a desert island with the trilogy, if only because I could finally get round to reading it! XD
I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about the Everless series (??)! Now that the sequel is out, I see a binge read in my future!

I’m not sure yet if Everless is an ongoing series or just a duology but I do have Evermore and I’m about to start it! I can’t wait!

Fearless is such a good call for a desert island read. I think Gilded Cage and TSED would make my lists too.
