Back in October there was a Six For Sunday post about our favourite trilogies and series and it got me thinking about popular series that I haven’t read yet. So I’m taking advantage of this week’s TTT freebie to share!
So many of my favourite bloggers absolutely rave about this trilogy from Melinda. Well I’ll be honest they rave about anything Mel writes! I have the first book in this trilogy sitting on my shelf but I’ve not got around to reading it yet…
Geek Girl by Holly Smale
There are six books in the Geek Girl series, and it’s a series that Amy from Golden Books Girl often tells me I should read. One day I’ll hopefully get around to them sometime in 2019 – although I haven’t bought any of them yet!
Rebel Of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
This is another trilogy I’ve seen a lot across various YA blogs, it sounds interesting so maybe I’ll get to it some year…
The Spinster Club by Holly Bourne
I have to confess to not being overly keen on Holly’s first adult book How Do You Like Me Now? but lots of people whose opinions I trust hugely assure me I’ll like her YA stuff much more and that I should give The Spinster Club a try
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
I read a really loved Heartless by Marissa Meyer and ever since I’ve been meaning to pick up The Lunar Chronicles. Nearly two years on I’ve still not quite gotten to it yet…
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin
I’ve not read any of this series and the only thing I took from the first episode of Game of Thrones was I’d quite like a pet Dire Wolf, I never watched another episode. So I have to admit this is one popular series I have no real desire to pick up
Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries by Robin Stevens
I love a good crime novel and a couple of people have recommended Robin’s books as a slightly lighter side of one of my favourite genres!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This was such a popular trilogy but I must confess I’ve never read any of the books or seen the films… I’m a bad bookworm!
Shadowhunter Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
Several of the people I follow absolutely rave about this franchise by Cassandra Clare, which (I think) currently contains three series of novels. It definitely interests me but y’know that slightly overwhelming feeling when you look at a series already 12 books in with another six supposedly planned and you just think ummm maybe not… Well that’s me here
Lord of the Rings – J.R.R. Tolkien
My dad read me The Hobbit as a bedtime story when I was little, I must admit I was more excited to spend time with my dad than listen to the story. My teacher tried to read us the story during my final year of primary school before switching to this new little series called Harry Potter when he realised we weren’t that interested. I’ve never been that interested in picking up this trilogy, I’ve only ever seen a bit of one of the films, I have to admit I just find it all a little dull, so I guess that’s another series I won’t be rushing to pick up!.
So there are ten popular series I haven’t read yet. Are there popular series you haven’t read yet? Let me know in the comments!
Oooh there are so many of my favourites on here- Geek Girl is one of my favourites, and I’m so obsessed with the Murder Most Unladylike series. The Spinster Club trilogy is fab as well- I adore the three main characters so much! Really hope you enjoy them all if you do read them 💜
Amy x
Some great series here. I’d definitely recommend the Hunger Games Trilogy! I used to love Lord of the Rings but now find it a bit heavy going (not many female characters, for a start!). Will look forward to hearing your thoughts if you decide to read it.
Oh my gosh, some of my faves are on here! Geek Girl is so freaking funny. Rebel is *amazing* and Murder most Unladylike is absolutely wonderful.
I only read the first Game of Thrones book, they’re so long.

Finally, someone else who hasn’t read Lord of the Rings. I was beginning to think I was the only one 😂
I just finished Heartless, and it was great. I highly recommend the Lunar Chronicles, but something to keep in mind is that it has a strong science fiction angle, so you don’t get the fairytale setting she used in Heartless.

I don’t mind Science Fiction, so I think I’ll be okay with the Lunar Chronicles but thanks for the warning!
Lord of the Rings just doesn’t appeal to me at all, I can’t even watch a movie all the way through!

I feel you. I tried the first LOTR movie twice and both times I stopped paying attention before the halfway point.

Eh, The Game of Thrones series is really long and tedious. The TV show is just as good.

The TV show doesn’t really appeal to me either, so I think this will just be one popular series I don’t read
