Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Goals and Resolutions

It’s another Tuesday and Top Ten Tuesday has moved to a new host! This first week at That Artsy Reader Girl is all about bookish goals and resolutions. I didn’t make any New Year’s Resolutions for 2018 but there are a few book and blog related things I would like to do this year – Although I’m not sure I’m making it to 10!

Bookish Resolutions and Goals

Read Every day

I love reading, you may have guessed after all I have a book blog. My aim for this year is to read everyday! So far a whole 16 days in I’ve managed it, some days I read a lot, I spent all Saturday morning last weekend curled up in bed with a book, and sometimes it’s just a quick 15 minutes as part of my commute to work. The important thing for me is to keep reading and getting a bit of an escape each day!

For me this isn’t simply about upping the quantity I read, last year my Goodreads target was 50, I managed to read 84. This year I have upped my goal, but it’s still behind the number of books I actually read last year at 60. One of the things I enjoyed most about reading last year was widening the variety of books I was reading. I will always love my crime fiction but I certainly enjoyed reading more Young Adult fiction, and not just the contemporary that I’d read when I was a teenager. I’ve discovered I really quite enjoy YA Fantasy which is a genre I never really thought I liked. So as long as I keep widening my reading horizons I don’t mind if I don’t finish as many books as last year

Meet My Fellow Bloggers

I’ve virtually met some amazing people during my first year blogging and I would love to get to meet some of them in person this year! I’m actually getting started on this one this weekend when I’m meeting the lovely Charlotte from Charlotte Somewhere and I can’t wait!

Attend More Bookish Things

This one sort of ties in with the above aim! I’d love to get to some more book related events this year. I went to a couple of events hosted by the lovely team at Waterstones in Edinburgh last year and I’m off to another next week but I’d like to make it to more. Funds probably won’t stretch to YALC this year, especially when travel and hotel expenses get factored in, but hopefully I’ll managed to pick up tickets to some events at the Edinburgh Book Festival, I might even make it over to Stirling for Bloody Scotland.

Grow My Blog

I want to keep growing Sarah Withers Blogs. I’m not going to fixate too much on stats, in just over a year I’ve taken the blog from nothing to passing 300 followers which astounds me. I’m not going to set myself targets to hit but I’d love people to keep finding my blog and liking it enough to hit the follow button. I also do a small happy dance whenever someone leaves me a comment and I will always try a respond, although sometimes it may take me a while!

I’d also love to keep growing my social media reach, I especially want to become more active on Instagram, although my photography has a long way to go to even come close to some of the amazing accounts on there I’m keen to give it a go!

If you fancy helping me reach this goal feel free to give me a follow!

Buy More Bookish Things

I’d love to own more bookish merchandise! I really want some Pop! figures but I’m a little concerned it may become an obsession that spirals out of control! I’m also hoping to support some small businesses, I’m really looking forward to Rebecca’s candle store Taken Moons launching next month, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to sign up to Zoe’s subscription box after payday next week!

If you know any other places to grab some great bookish merch, preferably UK-based, or at least without crazy shipping fees to the UK, let me know in the comments!

Actually Link Up To Challenges

I’m taking part in a few reading challenges, and reading the books won’t be a problem, but if last year is anything to go by remembering to add my reviews to the monthly link-ups might be!

Sound like very good goals! 😀

Pop! figures are really addicting. I have a shelf dedicated to my Harry Potter collection and it’s getting out of hand (and they’ve only published 3 of the illustrated editions and it’s nearly full. Oh dear!)

& this year, I endeavour to come up north and after something between 10-15 years of knowing each other on the internet we’ll say hi in person! =P (I’m sketchy on details, pretty sure I knew you before we moved to Scotland 12 years ago though?)

Meeting fellow book bloggers in person is something that’s always fun that I wish I could do more of. I live in the Philippines but over the years, I’ve been able to meet bookish friends in Los Angeles, Singapore and Munich.🙌 I also want to be more consistent about bookstagramming, I enjoy taking bookish pics but I try to keep my posts simple. I don’t want to be pressured into making elaborate set-ups with lots of props like how some bookstagrammers do it. I admire them for their dedication but I don’t think I can pull that off.😂
