It’s been forever since I last did a WWW Wednesday for various reasons, so I’m sitting down on Tuesday night to make sure I don’t miss it again!
I’ll linking up with the weekly meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.
What are you currently reading?
La Belle Sauvage by Philip Pullman
About the book:
Eleven-year-old Malcolm Polstead and his dæmon, Asta, live with his parents at the Trout Inn near Oxford. Across the River Thames (which Malcolm navigates often using his beloved canoe, a boat by the name of La Belle Sauvage) is the Godstow Priory where the nuns live. Malcolm learns they have a guest with them; a baby by the name of Lyra Belacqua . . .
I was lucky enough to get hold of a special edition copy of La Belle Sauvage, I’ve not started it yet but by the time this posts in the morning I will have! To say I’m a little excited by this book would be an understatement! I loved His Dark Materials when I was younger, I was going to re-read them before reading this but I’m too worried about spoilers appearing so I’m diving straight in!
Anything You Do Say by Gillian McAllister
About the book:
Joanna is an avoider. So far she has spent her adult life hiding bank statements and changing career aspirations weekly.
But then one night Joanna hears footsteps on the way home. Is she being followed? She is sure it’s him; the man from the bar who wouldn’t leave her alone. Hearing the steps speed up Joanna turns and pushes with all of her might, sending her pursuer tumbling down the steps and lying motionless on the floor.
Now Joanna has to do the thing she hates most – make a decision. Fight or flight? Truth or lie? Right or wrong?
My La Belle Sauvage is a little heavy (and precious) to cart about in my handbag so I needed a eBook for my commute. I read and really enjoyed Gillian’s debut – Everything But The Truth – I’ve only started it on my commute this morning so I’m hoping it’s just as good!
What did you recently finish reading?
Tarnished City – This is the second in the Dark Gifts series by Vic James, I’ll be posting my reviews for Gilded Cage and this one soon. This book was amazing though and left me with serious feelings that I’m still trying to get my head around!
I’ve officially put The Irregular and Alex and Eliza on hold. It had been a while since I picked up The Irregular and the formatting on the e-galley of Alex and Eliza was making it pretty frustrating to read so I’ll get back to them at some point!
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have The Fourth Monkey and The Advent Calendar lined up to read. Both look great!
SnazzyBooks
Sounds like some great picks this week; I’d happily read all of your books – and I really want to read Anything You Do Say after seeing lots of good things about it. Hope you enjoy! Here’s my WWW post https://snazzybooks.com/2017/10/25/www-wednesday-25-october-2017/ 🙂
