This morning I’m sharing my September TBR! There’s a couple of books rolling over from my August TBR that I didn’t quite get to, plus a few more, I’m hoping I’ll manage them all this month as I’ve some time off so I’m quite looking forward to curling up on the sofa and spending a few hours reading each day!
First up is a book I started reading at the weekend – The Word Is Murder by Anthony Horowitz.
A wealthy woman strangled six hours after she’s arranged her own funeral.
A very private detective uncovering secrets but hiding his own.
A reluctant author drawn into a story he can’t control.
What do they have in common?
Unexpected death, an unsolved mystery and a trail of bloody clues lie at the heart of Anthony Horowitz’s page-turning new thriller.
SPREAD THE WORD. THE WORD IS MURDER.
For me this is a pretty different style of book, but I’m about halfway through, as I write this on Sunday afternoon, and I’m enjoying it!
Alex & Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz
Their romance shaped a nation. The rest was history.
1777. Albany, New York.
As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.
Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.
So I’m a little bit obsessed with Hamilton – the musical so when I saw this on NetGalley I was helpless! I just had to request it, I’ve heard mixed things but I’m looking forward to it.
Cold Feet: The Lost Years by Carmel Harrington
All the love. All the drama. All you missed.
HILARIOUS AND HEARTBREAKING OFFICIAL NOVEL FROM THE HIT TV SERIES.
Reeling from the sudden death of Rachel, his beloved wife, Adam has no time to grieve. He has to keep going, for the sake of their baby son.
Jenny moves back in with ex-husband Pete, eight and a half months pregnant with another man’s child. Can their relationship overcome past jealousies?
Karen and David agree to an amicable divorce – but that’s before he sleeps with the divorce lawyer . . .
THE LOST YEARS reveals what happened to your favourite characters between series five and six of the award-winning TV series written by Mike Bullen. It’s an irresistible chance to catch up on all the laughter, the tears, the life lessons we missed while they were gone.
I loved the revival of Cold Feet and this is the official companion book which covers the period between the original series ending, and the beginning of the latest series. I’m really looking forward to picking it up!
Fire Lines by Cara Thurlbourn
When your blood line awakens, how do you choose between family and freedom?
Émi’s father used to weave beautiful tales of life beyond the wall, but she never knew if they were true. This is the first roll over from last month, it’s for a blog tour but it’s not until Mid September so I’ve still got a fair bit of time.
Anything You Do Say by Gillian McAllister
Joanna is an avoider. So far she has spent her adult life hiding bank statements and changing career aspirations weekly.
But then one night Joanna hears footsteps on the way home. Is she being followed? She is sure it’s him; the man from the bar who wouldn’t leave her alone. Hearing the steps speed up Joanna turns and pushes with all of her might, sending her pursuer tumbling down the steps and lying motionless on the floor.
Now Joanna has to do the thing she hates most – make a decision. Fight or flight? Truth or lie? Right or wrong?
I read Gillian’s debut novel Everything But The Truth earlier this year and loved it, so I’m looking forward to this one
Novelista Girl by Meredith Schorr
Feisty New Yorker Kimberly Long runs the most popular chick lit book blog on the web, loves playing house with her sexy lawyer boyfriend, Nicholas, and is finally pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a published author. At first glance, her life is worthy of five pink champagne flutes. But is there more to the story than meets the eye? After hearing the phrase “chick lit is dead” more times than she’s read The Devil Wears Prada, Kim is driven to desperate measures, seeking advice from up-and-coming chick lit author, Hannah Marshak, her high school nemesis and resident “mean girl.”
As if Kim doesn’t have enough on her plate balancing her secretarial duties with her blog, Pastel is the New Black, shrugging off the growing pile of agent rejections, and keeping her best friend from turning green over Kim’s budding friendship with Hannah, Nicholas is so blinded by his career ambitions, he doesn’t see that their home sweet home could use more than a dash of sugar.
This is the year when all of Kim’s dreams—professional and romantic—are supposed to come true, but will her story have a happily ever after or will Kim end up unpublished and all alone?
Another roll over – this is the second book in the Blogger Girl series, I got the first one from NetGalley earlier in the year and enjoyed it more than I thought I would so I downloaded the second one – I’m finally planning on getting around to reading it

Roll over number 3!
Mirror, Shoulder, Signal by Dorthe Nors
A spikily funny, startlingly perceptive and beautifully written novel about modern life by the brightest light in Danish fiction
Sonja’s over forty, and she’s trying to move in the right direction. She’s learning to drive. She’s joined a meditation group. And she’s attempting to reconnect with her sister.
But Sonja would rather eat cake than meditate.
Her driving instructor won’t let her change gear.
And her sister won’t return her calls.
Sonja’s mind keeps wandering back to the dramatic landscapes of her childhood – the singing whooper swans, the endless sky, and getting lost barefoot in the rye fields – but how can she return to a place that she no longer recognizes? And how can she escape the alienating streets of Copenhagen?
Mirror, Shoulder, Signal is a poignant, sharp-witted tale of one woman’s journey in search of herself when there’s no one to ask for directions.
And roll over number 4!
Party Girls Die In Pearls by Plum Sykes
The New York Times bestselling author of Bergdorf Blondes takes us back to the decadent 1980s in this comic murder mystery.
Brideshead, bon-bons, cucumber sandwiches – and now a murder
Pimm’s, punting and ball gowns are de rigeur. Ursula Flowerbutton, a studious country girl, arrives for her first term anticipating nothing more sinister than days spent poring over history books – and, perhaps, an invitation to a ball. But when she discovers a ghastly crime, she is catapulted into a murder investigation.
Determined to unravel the case – and bag her first scoop for the famous student newspaper Cherwell – Ursula enlists the help of her fellow Fresher, the glamorous American Nancy Feingold. While navigating a whirl of black-tie parties and secret dining societies, the girls discover a surfeit of suspects. From broken-hearted boyfriends to snobby Sloanes, lovelorn librarians to dishy dons, none can be presumed innocent.
Clueless meets Agatha Christie in this wickedly funny tale of high society, low morals and a middle-class girl, the first book in Plum Sykes’s irresistible new series.
I do love a bit of a mystery novel so this should be interesting!
So that’s my September reading! What are you planning on reading this month? What do you think of my picks – Have you read any of them? Let me know in the comments!

Right! I started it last night, my only concern is that the formatting on the eARC isn’t great, I’m worried it’s going to affect how much I enjoy it, it’s not proving the easiest to read….
