Books Purchased

I’d like to say I’ve been good this month but I went on a bit of a Kindle Freebie spree. In positive news I obviously didn’t have to pay for them, however they have added to my already slightly bloated TBR. There’s over 20 of them so I won’t list them all. A couple of highlights though

Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride. This series is something I’ve been meaning to start for a while, so when I spotted the first in the series had been temporarily reduced to nothing on Amazon I grabbed it. I’m a big fan of Scottish crime, and I had the west and east coasts covered so now I’m ready to head up to Aberdeen with these ones.

The Girl In Between this is a YA fantasy/romance that sounded intriguing – and it was free so I figured why not give it a chance!

On payday I treated myself to a couple of cheap kindle books as well.

I picked up Lies by TM Logan, Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney, The Burning by Jane Casey and Never Somewhere Else by Alex Gray all for under £6. The first two are books that were released this year and I’ve seen some good reviews for, the latter two are the first books in a couple of series where I’ve read later books this year. Let The Dead Speak and The Swedish Girl both impressed me enough that I was keen to go back to the start and read through the books in order.

Books Received

I tried to be good on NetGalley this month, but I still seem to have added 10 books to my to read shelf. I’m particularly keen to get to The Threat Level Remains Severe, Superpowerless, Tree Magic and Flight Of A Starling.

I also received copies of The Irregular and I’m Still Here from publishers via Bookbridgr that I’m looking forward to reading

According to Goodreads this puts me 22 books ahead of schedule which pleases me. I think I might change it to aim for 100 books by the end of the year. I’ll see how I’m doing when we get to June.

I’m not sure I’m going to raise my target, I’ll just keep going and see where I end up. I’m happy with the number of British books I’ve already read though.

2017 Cloak and Dagger Challenge: 18/15

I’ve read 8 books this month, and only 3 of them have fitted this challenge which again has surprised me. Taking a quick look at what I think is going to be my TBR for next month I expect this will be a higher percentage this time next month.

2017 New Release Challenge: 30/30

That’s me hitting my target for this challenge. I’ve been reading a lot of ARCs from Netgalley which is why nearly 80% of the books I’ve read so far this year have been new releases. Going forward when I’m planning my monthly TBRs I’m going to make sure I don’t forget the books I already own.

Target reached – I must admit when I picked this target I never expected to be accepted for this many books on NetGalley, I was brand new to blogging. It’s been fantastic though and I’ve discovered some great new (or new to me) authors I might not have taken the chance on otherwise.
