The Book Blogger Award – Nominations

Hi all!

At the beginning of the month (and I’m not sure how we’re already so near the end of it – Seriously this time next week we’ll already be in May!) Joce who blogs at Write Through The Night announced that she was organising some Blogger Awards specifically for book bloggers. Now I’ve only been blogging since January but already I’ve discovered what a wonderful, diverse group of people you all are. It’s a wonderful community that’s really made me feel welcome, I can’t believe I already have over 80 followers so thank you all so much! This seems a wonderful way of celebrating what we all give our time to do, and as Joce says it’s a section of blogging that’s often a bit overlooked compared to Beauty and Lifestyle blogging.

I’d really like to say thank you to Jess over at Bookends and Endings for nominating me for The Master Of The Weekly Features it was a lovely surprise when I was included in your tweet so thank you! You can find out more information about the Book Blogger Awards here, including how to nominate and a the full list of categories. I put my hands up and admit I’ve skipped the whole section based on the age of the blogger as I wasn’t sure and didn’t want to put anyone in the wrong category!

My Nominations

GENRE MOST BLOGGED ABOUT:

Young Adult

Steph at A Little But A Lot – Steph has a whole heap of wonderful content. I really enjoy her reviews, they’re so colourful! I also really appreciate the honesty in them, if a book didn’t meet her expectations she’ll tell you the reasons why, and who hasn’t read a book surrounded by hype and had it just not quite work for them, but she’s also sure to comment on the areas that worked well. Recently I’ve also really enjoyed her Ask Miss Elliott posts, she seems to teach the most amazing kids!

Mystery and Thriller

Laura at Snazzy Books – I’m a huge fan of crime, mystery and thriller books. I’ve not been following Laura for that long but already I’ve seen some great reviews, and been introduced to a few new authors that have now made their way on to my TBR. Laura’s blog is definitely one I’ll be keeping a close eye on anytime I’m in need of a recommendation.

Emma at Damp Pebbles. Emma has a wonderful blog absolutely packed with all manner of wonderful things crime and mystery book related. From author Q&As to cover reveals and the all important book reviews. Definitely a must follow for fellow fans of the odd serial killer!

Does a little bit of everything

Fiction Fan Reviews – You’ll find a whole variety of books reviewed by Fiction Fan – My favourite section would be any crime/mystery review, but you’ll find contemporary, historical, horror and sci-fi too. Something to suit almost everyone!

THE BEST OF BOOK BLOGGING:

Best Book Reviews

Jess at Bookends and Endings. I’ve been following Jess for a few months now, she was actually one of the first blogs I followed! She has a wonderful way with words and her love of books really shines through in her reviews. There’s definitely a couple of books I wouldn’t have thought about that have made their way onto my TBR thanks to a review from Jess!

The Master of Weekly Features

Yvo at It’s All About Books. Yvo regularly takes part in a number of memes, I’m often spotting something fascinating in her Friday Finds posts, being intrigued by a Teaser Tuesday post or finding a book in common on her WWW Wednesday posts.

Nikki at The Night Is Dark And Full Of Books. Like Yvo Nikki regular posts a variety of memes, I love the graphics she accompanies each post with and she created and hosts Searching Saturday

Best Book Recommendations

Bex at My Shelf and Myself. Bex writes some wonderful reviews that frequently has me adding things to my over extended TBR. She also recently did a post called Reasons To Read The Mortal Instruments which was fantastic. I really hope she’ll cover some more of her favourites in the upcoming months!

Prettiest Bookshelf

Cait at Paper Fury. I will be the first to admit I’ve not been following Cait until today. She was nominated in a different category by someone else and clicked the link and just look at some of those featured images on her homepage! Jealous does not begin to cover it, her shelves are stunning!

Best bookish discussions

Nicole at Feed Your Fiction Addiction. Nicole has some fantastic discussions on her blog. Recent topics have included Watching Bloggers Come and Go and Am I The Only One Without An OTP? Nicole is also one of the hosts of the Book Blog Discussion Challenge.

THE OTHER STUFF:

Most Engaged in the Community

Rachel at 100 or less. Rachel is the wonderful host of the #SundayYA twitter chat. She does a wonderful job coming up with all the topics and hosting the chat every week. I’ve discovered some wonderful blogs through the chat. Rachel also organised the readathon I took part in over the Easter weekend, and set up a twitter DM group that was fantastic for motivation over the weekend.

Blog Aesthetic

Kelly at Kelly’s Rambles – Kelly’s blog is beautiful, I love all the different images she has for her posts from the home page, it’s a very clean, easy to read but gorgeous blog filled with great content.

Rosie at Rosie Freckle Reads. This is just a beautiful blog, I love the background, the font, the shape of her featured images on the main page. Just gorgeous, and like Kelly’s filled with great content like her recent post on her Top 10 Shakespeare Plays

Best Friend ever

Ashleigh at Ashleigh’s Bookshelf. Now Ashleigh and I go way back, we met online and she is the loveliest person ever. We share a love of so many TV programmes and she has a wonderful blog where she talks about a whole variety of books – just recently she’d reviewed the books that were shortlisted for the Wellcome Prize shortlist and I definitely added a couple to my TBR based on her recommendations.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:

Best New Book Blogger (created blog after July 2016)

Swetlana and Sandra at Reading Through The Nights. Like me Swetlana and Sandra only started their blog at the beginning of the year but between them they have fantastic regular posts and I always look forward to seeing an email pop up to tell me they’ve published something now

Wow this post has taken me so long to write! In the 4 months I’ve been blogging I’ve discovered so many wonderful blogs and it’s been so hard to narrow it down to these! I just simply couldn’t decide on the Best Overall Book Blogger so I chickened out and left that one! I still think there are so many blogs I’ve missed out and if you’re one I’m sorry! I still think you’re amazing!

Don’t forget to put forward your own nominations! You have until Sunday 30th April! You can create your own post like this, or just make your nominations by commenting on Joce’s Book Blogger Awards post

Aww, thank you, Sarah – I’m chuffed to bits! It must have taken you ages to decide on all these nominations – I know quite a lot of these bloggers already but am looking forward to visiting the others. So kind of you! I hadn’t heard about this so haven’t done any nominations, but I’m glad somebody’s nominated you for the Weekly Features slot – I always enjoy your discussion posts! 😀

I’ve known about the awards since the beginning of the month, but this post still took hours to write!

Should you want to you can still nominate people – You don’t have to do a post like this, you can visit Joce’s original post until Sunday. There’s a full list of nomination categories there, and all you’d need to do is comment with a name, and link to the blog. It’s open right through to Sunday night 🙂
