What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Let The Dead Speak by Jane Casey – You can check out a few sentences from my Teaser Tuesday post

When eighteen-year-old Chloe Emery returns to her West London home she finds her mother missing, the house covered in blood. Everything points to murder, except for one thing: there’s no sign of the body.

London detective Maeve Kerrigan and the homicide team turn their attention to the neighbours. The ultra-religious Norrises are acting suspiciously; their teenage daughter and Chloe Emery definitely have something to hide. Then there’s William Turner, once accused of stabbing a schoolmate and the neighborhood’s favorite criminal. Is he merely a scapegoat, or is there more behind the charismatic facade?

As a body fails to materialize, Maeve must piece together a patchwork of testimonies and accusations. Who is lying, and who is not? And soon Maeve starts to realize that not only will the answer lead to Kate Emery, but more lives may hang in the balance.

With Let the Dead Speak, Jane Casey returns with another taut, richly drawn novel that will grip readers from the opening pages to the stunning conclusion.

So far I’m really enjoying this, it’s part of a series, I think it’s book seven, but I’m finding it really accessible, I’m not turning pages and thinking I’m missing something because I’ve not read the previous books. I expect that I would get even more out of it if I read the others though, there’s certainly developed relationships between the central characters already.

What did you recently finish reading?

It’s been another pretty good reading week. I finished Don’t Stop Me Now, I posted my thoughts on it yesterday.  I’ve also read The Lost Children and On The Other Side. I really enjoyed the first and struggled a bit more with the latter, I finished it but there are a few things that still bug me about it which I’ll talk about a little more when I review it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The past couple of weeks have been quite crime/thriller heavy, which some chick lit thrown in so I’m quite keen to get a few YA books in over the weekend. I have copies of The Last Thing You Said, The inconceivable Life of Quinn & Letters to the Lost, which are all due out in early April. If you think any of those should be my next read let me know!
