The Sunday Post – 19/3/17

It’s Sunday evening so this can only mean it’s time to join in with The Sunday Post over at Caffinated Book Reviewer.

This week was a little more manic again at work, only because I knew Thursday and Friday I would be out of the office (still working unfortunately but not doing any of my regular work) so I had to try and fit everything I had planned for the week into three days. I managed to get most things done and anything that slipped wasn’t anything with a strict deadline so no problems there. On Thursday I was in an all day team meeting, we talked a bit about a spreadsheet I’m pulling together so we can pull information together for the whole category we manage rather than just the contracts me and my line manager look after. Apparently I am the excel genius lol that said it’s really not a complicated spreadsheet, just time consuming. Friday saw the whole of the Strategic Sourcing team away for our annual off site day – this sounds like it has the potential to be interesting but we didn’t have any of your team building hikes in the woods or paintballing sessions – we were stuck in a conference room of a hotel just off the M8. This was made worse by the fact that as it was in the middle of nowhere people had to drive to it so there was no popping out for dinner and drinks after it like our group did last year!

Looking forward I booked some days off work (yay!) I already had the last week of March off, so I added the first Monday and Tuesday in April, just because that’s when our holiday allocation resets and I could, I’ve also booked off a few days towards the end of April as my mum is coming up to visit, and as I was added the dates to my outlook calendar I realised that thanks to the Easter bank holidays this means there’s not a single week in April when I will be in the office for the whole five days! I really do enjoy my job, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something about a short week that is just amazing.

This week has been a much better week review wise – I’ve actually managed to post several of the ones that had been sitting as unfinished drafts for over a week. Yesterday I also managed to finish tidying some more so there are about 5 scheduled to be posted across the next couple of weeks included my thoughts on The Roanoke Girls, The Lost Children and Lessons In Falling. Earlier today I also posted a post on beautiful books so please click the link below and share any of your examples!

TPD was the first book I’ve read by Carrie. Am definitely planning on picking up her others when I get a chance. Hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
