Tuesday’s Teaser – The Roanoke Girls

Teaser Tuesday is a book meme I found via Google I believe it was originally hosted on Should Be Reading but I don’t think it’s still active. Still I liked the idea so I’m going to keep it going on my blog.

The rules are simple:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share one or two sentences from that page
  • Avoid spoilers – Pick a sentence that doesn’t give too much away

Tonight’s teaser comes from The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel. I only properly started reading this on my way to work this morning so the teaser is right from the start of the novelBook - The Roanoke Girls

“The first time I saw Roanoke was in a dream. I knew little of it beyond its name and the fact it was in Kansas, a place I had never been. My mother only ever mentioned it when she’d had too much wine, her breath turned sweet and her words slow and syrupy like molasses.”

Does this sound like something you’d want to read? Share a teaser from your own current read leave me a comment below!

I’ve definitely seen mixed reviews – A lot on Goodreads seem quite positive. I’m literally only a chapter in so far, I certainly don’t hate it but too early to call it
